87 % of People DISLIKE their Jobs

According to Gallup 87 % of people either dislike or hate their jobs which is a remarkable percentage in todays struggling companies competence to acquire, form and keep their best employees, from an ongoing study of workplaces in more than 140 countries !!!

“The bulk of employees worldwide — 63% — are “not engaged,” meaning they lack motivation and are less likely to invest discretionary effort in organizational goals or outcomes. And 24% are “actively disengaged,” indicating they are unhappy and unproductive at work and liable to spread negativity to co-workers. In rough numbers, this translates into 900 million not engaged and 340 million actively disengaged workers around the globe”

If we look at the rapid changes in our economy  and the habits of consumers, their demands and expectations as well as the habits of consuming services and products, we will all agree that the employees are the heart of our company, the most precious treasure of the organization.

Quoting Richard Brandson: If you take care of your employees they will take care of your customers.

Now here is my question to us all: Is the employee who is not motivated or are the companies not succeeding in all their efforts to inspire and motivate them?.

Corporations of any size are spending billions in training and education, hoping to get the best resources of their employees, but do we succeed in motivating them to bring their best self to the work?

IN order to keep up with the changing demands of the consumers companies should focus more into adapting and recalibrating their internal cultures, understood by this the identity of the company in the eyes of their employees. The reason why employees hate or dislike their jobs may lie NOT in the job itself but in the motivation atmosphere at work or the challenges that are being presented to them in order to make them feel growing, evolving, becoming the best version of themselves!!

I always post this question to companies when I coach their staff: Are you happy with your job?. And in 90% of the cases when the answer in NO, I am not happy I reformulate the question and ask: Are you not happy with your job or are you not happy with not growing. And the answer is again in 90% of the cases, I DON’T FEEL I CAN GROW in here!!
